I do agree that John Duarte's book is not easily accessible. But it is still one of the few books on music theory that goes beyond the basics and is based on guitar, not keyboard. I learned very much of what I know about music theory from John Duarte's series in Guitar Player way back in time. It was not easy, but it was worth the effort. And as I did work my way through the series, I may underestimate the difficulties in reading his book.

But if you like my series - fine. I have been thinking of writing a book on "Practical Music Theory for Guitar Players". But writing books take time, and time is hard do find.

Hi Olav, I love your site, thank you for creating and maintaining it!

I bought this book, i'm afraid it is not very good. Despite it having more detail than your site, it is not as easily accessible. I gave up after about 10 pages and returned to your site. Unfortunately Duarte's approach reads more like a reference book rather than something useful to a contemporary player.

You should write a book, or maybe an ebook with Tex or something!!

You can never learn all there is to learn about playing guitar! That's whats so fascinating about the instrument. It is the most simple yet most complicated instrument.
